Sauna Flooring
help! downstairs is freezing, upstairs is a sauna?
It's 20 degrees outside.
Our heater is set to 70 degrees, but downstairs it only reaches 68 by mid-day, and it needs the aux emergency heat to reach it.
Upstairs is comfortable, but at night it's a sauna!
The heating/ac vents are in the ceiling downstairs, and the floors upstairs.
Is there anything I can do to even it out? Our heating bill is ridiculous.

If your heating vents are coming from the ceiling, the floor space never gets a chance to warm up. Try installing a few ceiling fans downstairs. If you reverse the blade rotation in the winter, it will circulate the warm air back down to the floor. You may also try to dampen the upstairs floor registers and restrict the airflow, so more will flow downstairs.
