Infrared Dry Sauna

Are dry saunas better than steam ones?

I'm thinking about getting a sauna for our home--not the zip-up-to-your-chin vinyl saunas, but a real walk-in one, probably one that holds 2 people. According to one Sauna Manufacturer, dry saunas (which I believe use infrared heat, not sure) work better than steam saunas because they make you sweat more. [Perhaps it depends on the manufacturer; perhaps some dry saunas provide more heat than others].

Personally speaking, based on my experience with both dry and wet saunas at my former gym, I found the dry sauna more comfortable to use. It's easier to breathe in than the steam one, and--hey, you can get pretty bored sitting in a sauna alone. At the gym I could read my paperback in the dry sauna, but the steam one? Forget it.

So are dry saunas better for your health than steam ones?

My dad built my a dry sauna that fits about 5-6 people.
I love it very much! It's great just for relaxing or running in on a cold winter day. Yes, I've read in my sauna too, it's awesome.

I'm not saying steam saunas are bad, but they limit you to what you can do. If you get a dry sauna, you can walk out, dump cold water on your head and it will feel great :) (random fact, lol)

i suggest getting a dry sauna. but do whatever you think is best. :)
